So we have been so lucky and fortunate we have not had any covid at our house despite living with 3 kids . Then this past Sat night Andrew had a sore throat and cough ,isolated to his room but for a 15 year old boy not much different than normal except he now gets room service ! Then this Friday I developed a sore throat , cough and fever ,tested positive on Sat . So I am isolating to my room with room service . I just hope Ken doesn’t get it cause then we would be hooped ! He keeps looking for a tip ,wish someone would drop off a role of loonies for me lol!
I have been having some GI upset post radiation and unreal fatigue . The struggle is real , GI upset and coughing do not a good pair make if you catch my drift . Plus every time I cough I feel my staples pull .
I do apologize I am having a bit of a I feel sorry for myself week .What I really need is a good cry but that takes to much energy .
On a positive note I did receive cards in the mail from 4 old NICU friends which I appreciated so much ! It is funny how those friendships that we made in our 20’s have changed our lives . The NICU gals are like an old club or sorority that you do not see often but can count on for a kind word or help if you need it . I also heard from Barb my high school bestie who lives in NS ,she says she would love to drop of a meal but that is a challenge so she is going to quilt me a lap blanket , which will be awesome cause I am freezing all the time . Never thought I would miss those darn hot flashes !
Kens brother Steve and wife Tammy from Calgary dropped off a great dinner and art supplies for the girls last night which we appreciated so much !
I would say all in, the kindness extended my way outweighed all the awful stuff so I am thankful !
How terrible to have Covid on top of everything else you are going through. You are so lucky to have so many great friends and family to send you meals and offer support. I like your comment about a roll of looneys so you can tip Ken. 🤣
Hopefully you will easily recover from Covid and regain your strength before undergoing your treatments.
Hugs, prayers, and good thoughts are sent your way. 💕
Thanks Brenda,
Nice to hear from you . I do enjoy the pics from your walks
Take care
Sorry we missed seeing you yesterday but I see now that you’re going to need all the rest you can get. Wish we would have caught the Looney comment before we headed home, we definitely would have dropped off some. Steve said we could go back and drop off a roll of nickels🤭
Nickels of course !
Keep you chin up dear Susan.
I thought of you on Thursday while standing in the registration line at the Cross. I thought of you and I along with millions of others who are members of a new club (to us). Not quite like a gym membership where I’d miss more than I’d attend. Lol
I’m so glad you have such love within those walls of your home.
Hope you are enjoying your new travelling life ,we will get together soon .
Oh my friend
The exhausting from radiation is so real and Covid too
I’m so sorry to hear this
If come bring you some loonies ❤️
You are a sweetie ! Love seeing those pics of the beautiful Miss Maggie all grown up
Took a long time for me to reach out. I am not so eloquent in times lime this like many of your wonderful friends.
I am just a girl that felt actual pain in my heart when i heard your news.
I am also a warrior and respect your bravery. Just remember that crying it out, yelling to the moon, soending a day under the covers- all part of the warrior’s journey.
Love you and sending light your way.
Thanks Alana ,I miss you and hope you are very/happy ! You will have a longer wear very cute shoes season there !
Oh my goodness. Just caught up on your journey now and I’m so sorry you have Covid on top of everything else. Wishing you a speedy recovery from that so that you can go on with the rest of the war. Loving thoughts and hugs to you and to Ken. Xoxo
Thanks Lisa xx
Susan, Thank you for sharing your journey.
This is definitely a difficult one .
As you mentioned our NICU family you brought back a flood of many wonderful memories. Also some very stressful times .As you write your story I can hear your voice but I also can hear your laugh.I recall many times when you reached out during those stressful times to bring comfort to myself or another. You would find a way to make it brighter, usually a quick little line and a laugh that made us laugh . So I just wanted to make your day a little brighter and let you know how truly special you are . You are and will always be “Susan who is special “.💝
Thanks Synthia you are so sweet !
